"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam
The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.
Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.
Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:
- This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
- This email message is a 419 scam. Please see our 419 FAQ for more details on such scams.

Subject: Goodevening from Miss.Suzzy
Dear Sir,
My name is Suzzy Darko. My late father Vincent Darko was a director
at the Ghana gold mines before he died. Since his death, life has not
been easy. It was only recently that i heard on the evening news
broadcast about a precious minerals safe keeping company made
announcement and mentioned my name among the people who should come
forward to claim their inheritance. I went to their office and they
told me that it was my late father that left it for me. They also told
me that they have also included the announcement in the TIMES
newspaper edition of that time. This was in 2022 and since then i have
not been able to pay them the safe-keeping charges owed by my dad and
i have not been able to find anyone to assist me so i decided to seek
assistance from outside the country by contacting various people
through emails and pray that one person will give me a hand. If you
wish to assist me, i will be sharing the total treasure left for me by
me late father into two and you take half while i take the other half.
I have also attached a copy of the TIMES newspaper that carries the
announcement. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Suzzy Darko.
