"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: your parcel delivery

Dear Sir,
I am sincerely sorry for the delay in payment for your winning/inheritance funds. I recently found an error in your payment file and didn't want to send payment until I was sure that the cheque would not be returned back by your bank. On behalf of the General Counsel and Legal Services Department, I apologise for any inconvenience or frustration this caused you. I would like to assure you that this was a one-time error on my part, and I plan to have the funds transferred to you immediately. Rest assured that the circumstances that led to the oversight were unusual and it is unlikely that this will ever happen again. I have included the cheque for the amount of $2,500,000, as the first tranche of your payment.
I would appreciate it if, considering the circumstances and the fact that this is my first infraction, you would be willing to waive the delivery fee.
Please note that it is necessary that you re-confirm the below information for verification of information and data validation:
Full name:.......................
Address:.........................
Country:.........................
Telephone number:................
Government issued ID copy:.......

Your earliest response in this regard would be highly appreciated.

Very truly yours,

Patrick Hovakimian
