"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: Hello

Attention:

The sum of $4.5 million, of his total amount due, has been
approved for payment through the ATM card system after all attempts to
pay him through the bank and diplomatic courier service failed. The
approved amount has been programmed on the ATM card that will be sent
to you through your address at the time of reconfirmation. I have
made several attempts to contact you and this is the third and perhaps
the last email I have sent you regarding this matter. In the
meantime, I received a US Power of Attorney supposedly from you
requesting that the beneficiary of the fund be changed to your name,
so we are seeking your confirmation to the extent possible. And to
this end, kindly reconfirm this information for me.

NOTE: The actual fees for sending your ATM card are only $350,
nothing more and no hidden fees of any kind! Once payment is
received, the delivery officer will ensure that your package is
shipped within 24 business hours. Since I am very sure about
everything, I give you a 100% money back guarantee if you don't
receive the payment/package within the next 24 hours after you paid
for the shipping.

Regards

Mr James Jackie
