"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Re: About Your Payment

Hello,

I have tried to reach you several times without success.

It is about your long awaited payment. All your efforts, struggles, sacrifices made so far to receive your payment till now has proved bortive because those you are dealing with who promised to help you to receive your payment are the same people trying to use your name to divert your payment into another account that neither bears your name nor belongs to you. That is the reason you are unable to receive your payment till now.

As the chief Database Analyst, Customers Financial Protection Bureau, I'm contacting you on trust and with absolute confidence that you should as a matter of utmost importance pay urgent attention to this particular email from me and stop any further correspondences/communication with anyone, group or individual because as things stands right now, apart from me, no other person is in the position to help you receive your payment.

I will provide more information as regards to your delayed payment as soon as I hear from you.

Regards

Jeffery Townsend
