"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "courier company" (Courier companies mentioned in 419 scams are always fake. They will have you send money to them, but won't deliver anything. )

Romanchenko which made me a suffering widow now and with trust i want to inform you that i will need your
help at this time to leave here soon because my late husband left some huge amount deposited in cash with a
vaults courier company in America and London/Europe,so i will need your good help and assistance to work
with me and my family lawyer to claim the funds as my beneficiary who i entrusted to the funds and once you
have the funds with you,we will make arrangements how me and my kids and grand kids will come over but
at this moment we are somehow stranded and trying to see if we can enter any of the neighboring cities that
is a bit peaceful depending on when everything i told you about is done,we are so helpless and suffering right
now,it will be profitable to you and me if you can help because you will benefit from the total funds when you
receive it as my beneficiary and we come over after everything when you send us some cash after claiming the
funds as the entrusted beneficiary by working with me and my family lawyer please don't let me down or betray
