"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: RE: Charity

Dear friend,

As you read this, I don't want you to feel sorry for me because I
think everyone will die one day. My name is Mr. Ari Lae, a crude oil
trader in the state of Texas. I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
All forms of medical treatment exist, and now I have just months to
live, say medical experts. I wasn't living my life as well as I never
really cared (not even mine) but my business. Although I'm very rich,
I've never been generous, always been misanthropic, and only focused
on my business, the only thing that mattered to me. But now I regret
it because now I know there's more to life than just having all the
money in the world or wanting to do it. I believe if God gives me a
second chance stepping into this world, I would live my life
differently than I do. Now that God had called me, I wanted my
immediate and extended family and most of my wealth and fortune, as
well as a few close friends. I want God to have mercy on me and accept
my soul. So I decided to give alms to charities because I want it to
be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far I have donated
money to a few charities in Austria, Cameroon, Liberia, Algeria and
Malaysia. Well, my health has gotten so bad that I don't do it myself
anymore. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts
and distribute the money I have. In Bulgaria and Pakistan there is a
charity that rejected them and put the money away for themselves.
That's why I don't trust them anymore because they don't seem to argue
with what I left them. The last piece of money nobody knows about is
the huge cash deposit (ten million Dollars) that I have at a
Cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency, sometimes called crypto-currency or
crypto, is any form of currency that exists digitally or virtually and
uses cryptography to secure transactions. Cryptocurrencies don't have
a central issuing or regulating authority, instead using a
decentralized system to record transactions and issue new units. I
want you to help me collect this deposit and use it for charity. I
have 20% for you and for your time. God is with you.

Kind regards ,

Mr. Ari Lae
