"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: I NEED YOUR URGENT RESPONSE

--
Hi,

While thanking you for the attention you give to my present email, my
name is Mrs Althaea B. Henkel; I’m currently hospitalized in a private
hospital here in my country as a result of brain cancer. My purpose of
writing to you is for a charity project with the money that I have in
my private bank account in Europe. It is clear that I’m approaching
the last days of my life according to the doctor. I’m offering a sum
Amount to any trustworthy person/organization that will invest the
fund wisely into profitable business ventures and donate part of the
profit earned annually to charity worldwide; I am helpless to do so as
a result of my health, I urge you to help me fulfil my last wish. As
soon as I receive your positive response, I will detail and also
direct you on what to do.

Sincerely,
Althaea Henkel
