"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: HELLO

Good day my friend.

Am compelled to contact you for obvious reasons which you'll understand
when we discuss in detail. Let me tell you a little bit about myself, my
name is Maria Dieudonne, I'm a citizen of Côte d'Ivoire, I work for BHCI as
an auditor, I lost my husband a few years ago, my late husband was a cocoa
merchant here in Côte d'Ivoire. I have two children, and since the death of
my husband, I have been alone training my children. Before my husband's
death, I inherited a total sum of $9,000,000.00 from my late husband when
he was in his sick bed.

I'm contacting you for us to work together and get these funds transferred
to your bank account for investment in your country, and the percentage
ratio is 40% for you and 60% for me. If you accept this offer to work with
me, kindly reply for full details. I'll appreciate it if this proposal is
acceptable by you, but do not take undue advantage of the trust I have
bestowed on you and I assure you that we shall achieve it successfully.

Yours sincerely.
Maria.
