"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Hello

Hello,
I am Mr. Martin Okin.
I was an officer with Duncan Lawrie, a United Kingdom based Wealth Management firm.
Duncan Lawrie, after many years in business, wind up, liquidated and sold.
Duncan Lawrie as a wealth management firm still had unclaimed huge depositors' funds which has been turned over to some investment financial institutions, financial settlement facilities and fiduciary agents to locate depositors or any next of kin, reconcile and pay with requisite status and documentations of claim. These include an unclaimed deposit sum US$8,200,000.00 (Eight Million, Two Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) only. This deposit sum known to me, has remained in the custody of the nominated settlement and reconciliation agency. All efforts to find the depositor or any of their next of kin has been unsuccessful.
In my capacity therein, I have decided to process the unclaimed sum for our mutual benefit. This is the deal and the reason I have contacted you.
You shall be presented as next of kin. we shall put forward an application of claim in your names as the next of kin.
I have information to achieve this goal if you agree to be presented as the next of kin.
I will provide you information on what to be done to actualize this claim.
I am ready to share 50/50 with you.
I await your quick response.
Sincerely,
Martin OKIN.
