"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

My name is Caroline Flint, I know that this email will come to you as a surprise. I am the Bill and Exchange Manager in our bank. I hope that you will not expose or betray this trust and confidence that I am about to repose to you for the mutual benefit of our both families. I need your urgent assistance in transferring the sum of GBP49,922,933.00 Great British Pounds Sterling immediately to your private/company account.
 
Upon the receipt of your reply, I will send you full details on how the business would be executed and also note that you will have 50% of the above-mentioned sum if you agree to transact the business with me. You are my first contact. I shall wait a few days and if I do not hear from you, I shall look for another person.
