"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Alan,

People living with Alzheimer's and
their caregivers have seen their lives upended - whether they're
struggling financially due to work closures, feeling isolated from
family members, stressed about potential COVID-19 exposure in a loved
one's care facility or all of the above.

For these reasons and more, the
critical work of the Alzheimer's Association has never been more
important - nor has the dependable support of friends like you.
Today, during Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, will you help
us reach our goal of 2,020 monthly donors in 2020 by joining us as a
monthly donor?

Alan, as we
reach the year's halfway mark and near the end of Alzheimer's &
Brain Awareness Month, I'm so thankful for the new monthly donors who
have stepped up to increase their commitment to our vital work -
especially now, as the COVID-19 crisis has required us to adapt our
critical work in many ways:

* We've successfully transitioned our support groups, education
programs and care consultations to phone or virtual formats.
* We've published new, pandemic-related website pages
https://act.alz.org/site/R?i=SQjSdhxmx0uVMFyqY2zK_w

to help the families and professionals providing dementia care
stay informed on the challenges of COVID-19.
* We've engaged in crucial advocacy efforts to call for the safety
of those living and working in long-term care facilities, many
of which have been hit hard by the pandemic.
* And we're continuing to champion research that could one day end
Alzheimer's, as some trials adapt their protocols to keep
participants safe.

Please help us meet our goal of 2,020
new monthly donors in 2020 by joining this group today.

Giving monthly is efficient because
your donation is charged automatically each month. It's flexible, as
you can change the amount anytime. And recurring gifts are powerful,
as they provide the ongoing support needed to further our mission to
lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia - by
accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early
detection, and maximizing quality care and support - especially
at this unprecedented time.

There's no better time than
Alzheimer's & Brain and Awareness Month to strengthen our
partnership as we work together to achieve our vision of a world
without Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Please join us a monthly
donor today, before this special month ends.
