"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Hello,

I am Peter Lee, Business Relationship Manager with Wing Hang Bank Ltd. I
am getting in touch with you regarding the estate of a deceased client
with similar last name as you, and an investment placed under our banks
management some years ago.

Please note that I am making this contact in a private capacity, rather
than on behalf of the bank. Sending you this mail is not without a
measure of apprehension as to the consequences, should you not be
interested in my proposal.

However, I appreciate within me that nothing worthwhile is ever gained
without a bold venture, and that success and riches never come easy.
This is the one truth I have learned from my private banking clients.

I will respect your freewill if you do not want to be involved. kindly
let me know so I shall refrain from further communication with you.

Thanking you for taking the time to read my proposal, I await your
response.(peterlee1950@yahoo.com)

Sincerely,
Peter Lee
