"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "trunk box" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)

My Dear

It's so good to know you,i was thinking of discussing some very important issues with you concerning some funds i made here through our military search and i and my team discovered some loot which we decided to share among ourselves and i was able to get $68.5 Million USD as my share and once i got this as my share of the loot we found,i got a metabolic trunk box which i packaged all the money inside and got it shipped to a vault company in London

As of some days ago i was contacted by the manager of the company that they want to close down because of some internal issues so i don't know if you will be able to receive this funds for me on my behalf and i am willing to offer you 31% of the total some to you as your compensation and once this funds is delivered to you,i will resign from the military and come over to meet you there so that we can invest the funds in any very profitable business together,please you must not disclose this to anyone that is very close to you because of my security purpose here

And most importantly the vault company does not know the content of the metabolic trunk box,because i deposited it as a treasure effect,so you must not tell them anything if they ask you any questions regarding it,just tell them it's a treasure effect.i need to know if you will be willing to do this with me so i can tell you what is needed of you,in other for the company to contact you immediately,i look forward to hear from you soon
