"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "dormant account" (Banks mentioned in 419 scams are always fake (real banks don't communicate using mobile phones or free webmail addresses))

This email lists mobile phone numbers. Use of such numbers is typical for scams because they allow criminals to conceal their true location. They can receive calls in an Internet cafe from where they send you emails, while pretending to be in some office.

It is with heartfelt hope that I write to seek your co-operation and assistance in the context stated below, I am Mal. Aliyu Yahaya Gusau, Director General Budget office of the Federation Nigeria. A total of US$12.5M was reported by ACCESS BANK PLC unclaimed for last year financial auditing, in a dormant account of one of their customer who bears the same last name with you,
with my position as director general Budget office I humbly seek your permission to process this funds to your bank account since it is legally safe and risk free since you bear the same last name and the account was own by a foreigner who was letter discovered to have died in an accident during his vacation to their Country on the 29th of August 2014.

Our arrangement is that 35% of this fund will be for you for your sincere cooperation to receive this fund for us in your Country take your percentage and keep ours pending on our arrival in your for a face to face meeting and implementation of the investment as my colleagues and I have the interest for farming and real Estate and will want to go into partnership with you.
