"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

I write to you on behalf of my boss I am Capt. Muhammad Saeed retired one of the former personal assistant to formal Libya central bank governor Farhat Bengdara, who is currently on exile in Turkey. While in office he deposited a package which contained the sum of Ninety Five Million United States Dollars, Thirty Thousand carat of Diamonds and Two tons of Gold Bars in a secret private vault in Ghana for onward personal investment purposes of which I am the only person aware of the existence and location of the package while at the time of deposit the true content was not disclosed to the officials of the private vault company.

He asked of me to search for a reliable and trustworthy person that would be of assistance to move this money and precious stones out of Ghana for investment. Can you help? Are you capable of handling funds and selling the precious stones? Are you trustworthy? I have been asked to offer you Twenty five percent of the total proceeds realize for this transaction for your assistance, while five percent will be set aside for any miscellaneous expenses incurred during the course of this transaction, will that be ok?
