"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: CRY FOR HELP

Dear Friend,

My name is Elvina Johnson; I am a 33 year old Liberian woman. I wish to
crave your indulgence for a few minutes to read my story.

During the Liberian civil war, I lost both of my parents; was raped by a
gang of 6 men, but I survived it all. I forgot all about my past and
started a new life; I learnt to love again when I met my late heartthrob
and father of my three children Samuel Johnson.

Recently, due to the Ebola outbreak, Samuel fell sick, was taken into
isolation…he left me all alone; as if that was not enough, death visited me
again and claimed the life of my second child, my beloved daughter Miracle.

I suffered untold hardship and neglect by family and friends as no one
wanted to come even a pole near us. I managed to escape Liberia into Ghana,
unfortunately for me; the Ghanaian government destroyed the shack I was
staying with a friend in the Liberian camp, for fear of a breakout of the
Ebola virus in Ghana.

I have taken a deep account of my life; I don’t have anyone or anywhere to
turn to with my two surviving children. We slept on the streets of Accra
for about 12 days, ate from refuse bins, before I met a Good Samaritan lady
with whom we share her single room apartment . This is why I decided to
solicit for help from anyone with a kind heart enough to help. Any form of
assistance will do in whatever little form, all I need is a roof over my
head and a little to start some petty business to feed my children and
enroll them in school.

Please, if you are willing to be of any assistance to me…my contact email
is elvinajohnson@yandex.com.

I pray that no one reading my story will face such calamity as I have
faced. I have learned to brave it all, but the toll is heavy on me. Please
I beg you to be human and yield to my cry for help.

ELVINA JOHNSON
