"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Respond Asap

Rue 1505 Avenue St. Rita Agla
Maison Amankwa
Cotonou Republic of Benin

Goodday,
My letter will come to you as a surprise since I had no previous
correspondence with you but kindly go through it and see if we can
work together on this for our mutual benefit. I am Mr. James Dedome
and I work with the Ministry of Agriculture Mines and Industries
Republic of Benin in the Contract Award/Verification Department.

In my routine verification of contract execution and payment, I came
across an unclaimed contract payment valued at US$ 6,200,000.00 in the
name of Engineer Sadiq Hassan of Iraq approved for payment in 1999. In
the year 2001 I reported this matter to our director and I was asked
to locate Engineer Sadiq Hassan to claim his payment or have the money
returned to government coffers since it was over due. Since 2001 I
have made several efforts at locating Engineer Sadiq Hassan or any of
for claims and payment but all have been in vain.

With the resumption of duties this year 2014 and now in my position as
a supervisor, I have been mandated to cancel the payment and return
money to government before the next budget presentation. This I do not
want to do. But rather I am seeking for a foreigner to agree with and
have him stand in as partner to Engineer Sadiq Hassan. I have
contacted you so that I can present you to the ministry as one who
partnered with the engineer to execute the contract and have the money
paid to you for us to share on a percentage to be agreed upon. I have
gotten all relevant documents needed to claim payment and I am sure to
achieve this legally. All I need from you is to process the payment
and receive the money. If you can handle this, send me your private
email address so that I can give you full details on how we are going
to proceed.

Sincerely,
Mr. James Dedome
