"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

An email address listed inside this email has been used in a known fraud before.
This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "demurrages " (this will cost you money - be careful with upfront payments to anyone you only know through email, especially if they promise you a lot of money. NEVER send money by Western Union or MoneyGram to people you do not know personally - NO EXCEPTIONS! Instant wire transfer services are not meant to be used with strangers because they offer no protection against fraud. That is precisely why the criminals want you send money that way. )

This email message is a next of kin scam.
This email lists free webmail addresses. Use of such addresses is typical for scams. Lotteries, banks and any but the smallest of companies do not normally use such addresses. Criminals use them to anonymously send and receive email at Internet cafes.

This letter is not intended to cause any embarrassment in whatever
form, rather it is intended to contact your esteemed self, following
the knowledge of your high repute and trustworthiness.

I and my younger sister write to seek for your assistance; I want to
introduce myself to you. My name is Mohamed Zaki Morsi and my younger
sister Hope Zaki Morsi we are from South Sudanian but currently in
Buduburam is a refugee camp located 44 kilometers west of Accra,
Ghana,South Sudan's military seized power in a coup that it said was
necessary both to prevent civil war and to restore democracy this lead
to the killing of my parents and brothers during the riot I and my
younger sister were saved by united nations when they came for peace
keeping .

my consignment contains More than 9.8 million United States dollars
and some quantity of gold , which I cannot be specifIC OF THE quantity
. The consignment got out of South Sudan with the help of a
Government U.N diplomat Dr. DAVID LEE. The fact is that (DIP) Dr.
DAVID LEE is supposed to have delivered this consignment to a man
called Mr. Womack Hardee in the States.The week (DIP)Dr. DAVID LEE is
suppose to deliver the consignment to him, when he got to the State
after clearing the consignment from the Airport, he called Mr. Womack
Hardee to tell him the description to is house for the delivery, but
his wife answered the call and told (DIP) David Lee that her husband
Mr.Womack Hardee hard a fatal car accident which lead to his death
some few days . Mr.Womack Hardee has already paid the demurrages from
the security company,he paid for Bullion van that took the consignment
to the airport and he paid for custom check report he also assisted us
in getting the Necessary Document covering the Consignment and Also
for the DRUG / ANTI TERRORIST CERTIFICATE, which is so expensive that
he spent more than $47,000 thousand dollars to acquire it, but
unfortunately he died in a car accident, This brings me to the reason
we are urgently in need of someone who would be willing to stand as
the new beneficiary of the funds and gold so the diplomat can deliver
it to as soon as possible.

Please send to us , Your full Name , Delivery Address , Any means of
identification , Your direct Phone number as to enable us know whom
the diplomat is delivering our funds to if you are in any way
interested in helping us . We have gotten so many empty promises in
the past so please if you are not interested do not email us back .
