"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

SUBJECT: PAYMENT OF ABANDONED FUND.
 
I am writing concerning a case of an abandoned Twelve Million, Six Hundred Thousand British Pounds
Sterling in account belonging to one of our late customer. (Late Derrick Hilton)
 
Be informed that some time ago, a total sum of Twelve Million, Six Hundred Thousand British Pounds Sterling
was sent to our Bank (Abbey National Bank) from Africa for onward transfer to the beneficiaries account,
but due to his inability to provide source of Fund Certificate as requested by our Financial Services Authority
, he abandoned the fund without any words from him for the last 1year.
 
I am compelled to write you in good faith and request your honest cooperation so that I file in your name as
the beneficiary of this money, I will use my official position as the Head of Operation and approve you as
the beneficiary after securing Affidavit for Change of Beneficiary at the High Court here in UK which will cost
you only £150, thereafter we will share 50% to you, and 50% to me.
 
If you are interested to work with me, kindly revert back to me urgently to enable me inform you what to do
urgently. You are advised to furnish me with the below information to enable me make some necessary
changes in the system immediately and remit the fund to you.
 
1. Your Full name and address
2. Your Telephone and Fax numbers
3. Your Banking Details for the payment.
4. Occupation, Position, Sex and Marital Status and Age.
