"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

You will certainly be embarrassed by the receipt of this letter since there has never been any prior correspondence with this writer, neither have you met him in person. Well it takes just one day to know somebody and I believe we have got an issue here, which will bring us together. I got your contact via the Internet when I went on a desperate search for somebody who could be my associate in the final phase of a financial transaction, which has been cleared by the Court.

I am a Nigerian attorney who is equally passionately in love with the solid mineral business. Presently I have covered three mining sites with large deposits of Copper, Lead, and Tantalite. My only problem has been on the mechanization of the mining activities on these sites in order to meet the huge demands of these precious minerals. I have plans of investing proceeds of this transaction in the mining project and you can also be my partner if you so desire.

I was the attorney to a certain Australian contractor called Engineer John Owen. This contractor executed a multimillion-dollar contract with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. Outstanding payment due this contractor was US$35,000,000 but this amount was not paid before the sudden death of the contractor in a car crash. Since there were no immediate survivors to inherit this outstanding amount, some dubious, cold blooded and shameless top government official hoodlums have sat on this money for more than four years now. They invested this money in some high interest equities in some banks but I have succeeded in reclaiming the funds through a long court process.

WHAT I WANT US TO DO. You may be wondering why this concerns you. Well, it does not concerns you but I do not want to SIT hear and allow these criminals earn this fund when my outstanding legal fees of US$220,000 had not been paid by the contractor before his death. Officially I cannot lay claims on this fund since I am not the next-of-kin to the late contractor. Over the years I have been strategizing on how to deal with this situation so as to claim this fund. Having devised a perfect plan, I went to court with a powerful petition against all officials involved in this criminal act. I told the court that John Owen has a relative who I will produce in due course.

The hearing of this case started early last year and I spent a lot of money on the case. Fortunately, a favorable Judgment was given to me just last month and the court wants me to produce the late contractor’s next-of-kin so that the funds can be paid to him. The High Court judgment is now the Golden key in my hands to possess this fund. I have got all relevant documents regarding this John Owen’s project including the Judgment passed by Justice Sanya Olu of the Federal High Court Abuja-Nigeria. But I can only release all these documents and more information upon receipt of your full willingness to support me on this final phase of the claim. All I need to do is to draft an application for payment based on the passed verdict, and present you as the next-of-kin and the funds shall be wired to your account.

NOTE:

1. This is a risk free transaction that is already protected by the Justice Ministry of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Federal High Court. It can be rounded up in just one week.

2. You do not need to travel down to Nigeria. Reasons for your absence can be arranged.

3. As the attorney to the late Engineer Owen, all documents relating to this contract, including the verdict are at hand and shall be scanned and forwarded to you so that you may know exactly what I am talking about.

4. You are to set up a new bank account for the purpose of receiving this funds. However, we can avoid delays associated with setting up a new bank account by making use of your current banking co-ordinates if it is capable of accommodating this huge amount. But you must empty the account by withdrawing all your deposits so that we would have the account strictly for this transaction.

5. I need a mature person who can handle this large sum without creating eyebrows. I do not want to work with a mediocre in international business.

6. There shall be an agreement to govern this transaction so that no one feels cheated upon the consummation of the transaction. As the next-of-kin, the Nigerian Government will wires the funds into your bank account as have been authorized by the Court. I am willing to equally share this money with you, as 50% of it is more than enough for my mining project.

Finally, please note that I am in a desperate mission, which I would not allow to be aborted. You have the right to ask for clarification on anything concerning this transaction. I also implore you to kindly get back to me even if you are not interested, that will allow me the opportunity to continue my search. I must execute this transaction, as that is the only sure way to actualize my mining dreams, so I need your support. Your comments are anxiously awaited.
