"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Attn: Sir,

My name is Mr Steve Ofori. I’m the heir to the Great Osei Ofori in the
Ashanti region of Ghana . I found your name through my internet search.
However, I offer the hand of friendship to you and if this email is going
to cause any inconvenience, decline politely from replying. As you may
know, Ghana is a peaceful nation. Ghana is endowed with mineral resources
such as Gold, Quartz, petroleum (recently discovered) EST.

Recently, in the portion of the land that I inherited, crude was discovered.

My proposal is: I don’t have the technology to extract this mineral so I
wish to give it out to potential business men.

The petroleum and valueable mineral resources in this land is valued at
Millions of Dollars. If you are interested, you can notify me as soon as
possible so that we could reach an agreement that is binding by law.

I have all the necessary documents for the land and you don’t need to be
afraid of anything because Ghana is a peaceful country that is not
corrupt.
