Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Gooday, hope you are alright. My name is Edward A Carter,staff of a
bank in United Kingdom and have written to seek your assistance in the
receipt of some redundant funds we wish to transfer to you as a
beneficiary for safe keeping. This transfer of funds will come in bits
to a nominatedbank account of your choice preferably a fresh account
for trust. After the transfer has been successfull, money would be
shared into two of the transfered amount between us.
Should you be Interested to do business with us and at your request
more detailed information regarding the fund,its origin and modalities
for the transfer of money to you as the rightful beneficiary.
