Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Dear Friend, I deem it a necessary to contact you through the channel since it is an easy and cheaper way of communication in this recent time. I am Evangelist Markwell Bowlers. I am serving with the Faith Family Ministry in Benin Republic but I hale from Ashanti in Ghana. I am the leader of a group in my church, known as The Hospitality Group. We engage in visiting the seek people in the hospitals, Refugee camps, Prison yards, motherless homes and every other disabled and less privilege homes where we offer them prayers and material gifts support. My reason of contacting you is this; few days ago, we paid a visit to the Kpomasse refugee camp. After we finished with our usual activities of praying and giving our material support gifts, as we were about to leave, a young man and the younger sister came to me and demanded to speak to me privately which I gave them an attention. They told me that they have been here for months, in to solve a problem that brought them here which they have not been able to solve as they do not know what to do because of the language. These young people lost their family in the war that is going on in their country Sudan. According to them and the documents they shown me, their late father made a deposit of a huge amount of money with a safe-keeping finance deposit company here due to the war in their country. Fortunately as it is indicated in the deposit agreement paper, the man used his son as his next of kin to the deposit. As refugees here, they are restricted from handling transactions that involve huge sums of money as the government believed that most people that seek asylum in refugee camps are people that run away with their countries money to settle in other countries. As for me, I can not help them directly. In my whole life, I have not touch 20,000$ in block talk less of fund amounted to 18,000,000.00$. Besides that, my work as an evangelist can not permit me to handle such a transaction and I am also a stranger here. I have been in this country for 7years and some months now. I know the attitude and character of the people here. They are wicked and envious. I advised the young man never to disclose this to any person here and advised them that the best is to seek a foreigner, who can help them claim the money and take them to his or her country where they can complete their education and can invest their money through the person in a good venture while they continue with their education. They are okay with my advice and pleaded me to help them further on this since they have no means of communicating to people from the refugee camp. This is why I have contacted you to know if you can be kind to assist them sincerely. They promise to offer us a good reward if we help them. So kindly confirm to me your interest and capability to handle this with total sincerity.
