Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

URGENT INQUIRY

Dear sir,

I am barrister Nuel Douglas Kwasi, a solicitor at law and the personal attorney to late Mr. Philips Chapman, a national of your country. He is a private contractor with the Shell Development Company here in Cote d’Ivoire, herein after shall be referred to as my client.

On the 21st of April 2004, he and his wife and two children were involved in a car accident along San Pedro express road, all occupants of the vehicle unfortunately lost their lives.

Since then I have made several enquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful. Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 2 years now, I seek your consent to present you as the next of kin of the deceased so that the proceeds of this account valued at $9Million US dollars can be paid to you and then you and me can share the money. 60% to me and 35% to you while 5% will be for expenses. I have all necessary legal documents that can be used to back up any claim we may make.
