"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: FROM HARRY

Dearest one
I pray that my decision to contact you will be given genuine approval considering the facts we have not known each other before; I wish to use this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am Harry Freeman from Ghana, West Africa. My father was a diamond/gold merchant in my country and it was on his way to sign a deal on a gold firm investment with a company that came from UK that he had this ghastly accident that claimed his life. Before his death he disclose to my mother the sum US$10,000.000.00 (Ten Million United States Dollars) which he deposited with the International Commercial Bank of Ghana in an Escrow Account that was meant for onward transfer for his Gold business. Since the death of my father, we have been confronted with difficulties with my uncles for my father's ASSETS. Due to their threat, my mother died of High Blood Pressure this year 18/2/2007. But before her death she gave me the deposit certificates which my father used to deposit the money in the bank and told me to look for a foreign beneficiary to invest the money in a foreign country for my future. As an orphan I have no choice, considering my age than to look for your assistance to partner with me to claim and help to invest this fund for my future since this fund is in a bank here in Ghana. I cannot wait to receive your acceptance response through this email. May God bless you. Harry Freeman
