"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: GREETINGS

Dearest in christ,

Mrs. Christiana Darko are my names. I’ve been diagnosed to have a third
degree HIV virus and therefore suffering a terminal sickness of ACQURIED
IMMUNE DEFICIENCY SYNDROMME - AIDS. Ever since my husband died of AIDS and I
was tested positive of the AIDS virus, the mass media wouldn’t just let me
and my family be. My daughter have stopped going to school because she could
no longer stand the humiliations from fellow students. The embarrassments
are getting on my nerves but what can I do? I would have loved to travel out
of the country to a place where I would have peace to spend the rest of my
life with my daughter but I couldn’t make it for I am weak and severely
sick. Moreover,no Embassy would grant me visa to her country with my hairs
withering and boils all over my body.
From all indications,I know that my days are numbered. In view of this, I
have contacted you to seek your assistance to handle and manage my late
husband's financial assets and take adequate care of our daughter. My
husband,Rev. Dr Darko headed one of Ghana's most successful private
enterprise,Manful Farms & Co. Ltd. He was the principal shareholder of the
family enterprise, which produces more than 50 percent of Ghana's
day-old-chicks, and a large proportion of its table eggs and dressed
chicken. My husband had advanced poultry science in Ghana, receiving numerous
awards of recognition for his contribution to the field. It is sad to say
that he died of AIDS on the 15th Feb.,2006 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital
here in Accra.
This development has affected my daughter physically, academically and
psychologically. For these reasons, I’ve decided to send her over to your
country where she would have peace to live and further her education, hence
I'm making this contact. My husband deposited the sum of $9.3
Million USD with a Financial Firm here for the up-keep of my daughter when
it became obvious he was going to die.I want you to use this money to secure
traveling papers for her to leave Ghana and train her as your own child. I
want my daughter to have a good life when I’m gone and this is not
guaranteed here with my husband's people who have been showing me so much
hatred eversince their brother, my husband died. They claim it was I who
infected my husband, their brother with AIDS but God knows I have never
known any other man eversince I got married to their brother. I place no
conditions on your management of this fund except legally adopting and
taking good care of my child. My family's Attorney will see to this.My
daughter's name is Olivia,15yrs old and very brilliant. She is 100% healthy
and tested negative of HIV.Olivia is an absolutely great kid.My husband’s
people do not know about this money and I would appreciate if you keep
this letter secret or delete if you do not accept my proposal. Please reply
to christianadarko@yahoo.com I expect to hear back from you soon.
