"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend
STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL

-------------------------------------
With due Respect,i crave your indulgence as i contacted you in such a
surprising manner. But I respectfully insist that you read this letter
carefully as I am optimistic it will open doors for unimaginable financial
rewards for both of us.

I am Mr Raymond Okigbo, personal account manager/supervisor to late
ENG.W.A.Gerber ,who used to work with an Oil Firm here in Togo. I am
writing you this letter but my heart goes out to the very distinguished
gentleman who I was fortunate to have worked for as account manager and
extremely privileged to have known for years .

On the 21st of April, 2002,ENG W.A.Gerber ,his wife and their only daughter
were involved in a car accident along Nouvissi express Road and lost their
lives while returning from a cultural festival holding in a nearby city.
Before this tragedy,he left behind the sum of $9.5M United States dollars in
his account. The fund has been lying in his account with this bank without
any claim of the fund in our custody either from his family or relation
unfortunately all his supposed next-of-kin died alongside in the event of
the accident.

It's upon this that I decided to make this business proposal so that this
money will be transfer into your nominated bank account as the beneficiary
since nobody is coming for it.I wish you are capable and reliable to
champion this business opportunity, because the money cannot be release
unless somebody officially apply for it as the next of kin or relation to
the deceased as indicated in the banking laws/guidelines.

The request for a foreigner as next-of-kin to this business occasioned the
fact that the deceased was a foreigner and a Togolese can not stand as
next-of-kin to a foreigner. I now seek for your consent to present you as
the next of kin to the deceased person, so that the proceeds of this account
can be paid to you for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is
coming for it and i don't want this fund to go into the bank treasury as
unclaimed bill.

On receipt of your positive response, we shall then discuss the sharing
ratio and modalities for the transfer. I am revealing this to you with the
belief that you will not let me down in this business,as i have made up my
mind to contact you for this business after a period of time, Therefore
indicate your interest by replying to this message so that i will furnish
you with more details regarding this transaction and guide you on what to do
immediately.

I am anxiously waiting to hear from you.

Mr Raymond Okigbo
