Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Subject: Contact Me.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I write to seek your assistance in a joint-venture business deal.
Through my official position I have been able to successfully amass a relatively fair amount of money, which I intend investing in favourable climes.
However due to some prevailing circumstance it is not possible for me to embark on this investment drive, therefore I seek your partnership in this venture. I will provide all the necessary documents needed to facilitate the transfer of ownership of these funds from me to you. I am sure you will find the compensation package for your assistance satisfactory.
I want you to understand my proposition clearly. If you can handle this offer, kindly contact me.
Yours faithfully,
Frank Asa.
