Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Dear Mr. VICTIMNAME,
Compliments of the day!
Thanks for your response to my email though I have long been expecting to hear from you.
I am so sorry for your predicament, I quite understand that there are so many ungodly people that are mostly using the internet to perpetuate all sorts of ungodly schemes, but in as much as that, I still know that there are still good people out there that are still using the same internet to transact some good and genuine businesses.
I am telling with all sincerity that all I have mentioned in my previous mail is the real situation of things and I am kindly asking for your sincere assistance in moving out the said fund out from South Africa and probably to London.
Please let me have your telephone and fax numbers to enable us easier communication.
I wait to hear from you.
Regards,
Peter Khumalo
