Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Dear Patricia K. Holder,
We never asked you to pay us for helping you with our attorney.
I sent you an mail stating that we would have to take the responsibility
since you cannot make the trip down here and you are asking why you have to
pay us when you won lottery.
Anyway your fund has been signed off this morning and hopefully you would be
contacted by Monday for your payment.
Regards,
M.K.Lawrence.
