"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

From: "Bishop Larry" <promotionsofficer@msn.com>
Date: Tue, 22 Nov 2005 07:35:23 +0000
Subject: CONTACT THE DELIVERY COMPANY

ATTENTION: Sir,

How are you today? I am pleased to inform you that your claims application
has been approved, and your winnings is ready to be paid out pending when
you sign your fund release documents which is included in the parcel to be
sent to you. Congratulations! I believe a detailed explanation as been made
available to you on your inclusion and eventual winning of the lottery.

Due to the state of insecurity in all of London, you are advised to contact
Speed Courier Services to deliver your winning cheque to any designated
address of your choice.

We presently operate a partnership with Speed Courier services here in
London and they are our official courier service.The documentation process
is complete all that is left is for you to sign the fund release document.
After signing the documents you are to keep the original and have a
photocopy sent back to Camelot Universal International.Your package is
presently with the courier firm for weighing so that you will have an idea
of how much it will cost you to send it to your destination.
