Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Subject: We can make it happen
Hi,
I am registered financial personnel residing in the United Kingdom.
I have been in charge of a particular dormant account with a balance of
6,629,504.08 Million GBP, which is an equivalent of US$12,500,000.00. The
account has been dormant since 2000 and the department has changed
custodians of the account and its funds in the last 3 years, without anybody
laying claims to it. In my adept assessment, using the extensive protection
database, the late depositor of the funds did not affix any next of kin to
the funds.
Now, I need a very trusty business-minded person who will aid claim the
funds, so that it would not be reverted to the institution. A systematic
move of the funds will be done into an account opened in your name; this
initiation will only be known to both of us. I shall go into partnership
with you to see this task completed within a good time frame. I give surety
that there will be no risk to your personality. I assume you understand the
reason for not disclosing exclusive data at this stage, consequently I
require your reply using this email address: derbyshire7007@walla.com
If I do not hear from you within the next few days I will assume that you
are not interested. Additionally, do include your direct phone number in
your reply.
