"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: for your kind assistance

Dear Sir,

Subject: Request for your assistance to invest the sum of US$8,500,000.00

I wish to solicit your kind assistance for the transfer of the above sum and I lay out 15% of the total sum for your assistance. My late dad was a farmer and a business man before his untimely death. He was found burnt to death in his car (Peugeot 406) at the edge of boulevard de Marseilles when he was returning from a business meeting on a Friday night. It was really a traumatic experience to see him burnt in his car that way, we are suspecting his business partners as the principal suspects of his death but the police are still investigating on it.
I want this money to be invested into Real Estate or manufacturing and I believe this transfer will take 5 working days upon confirmation of your willingness to help me. I hope my request will retain your benevolent attention, and a favourable response be given to me.

I look forward to hear from you and God bless you.
Emile Benson(emilebenson@yahoo.fr)
