Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Subject: Please help me in jesus name Amen
Dear Sir/Mad.
My name is WILLIAM ABANI, 21years, from the Dafur Region in Sudan, North
Africa.
My father, mother, brother and sisters were all killed by militants. My
father was a Gold and Diamond Merchant before his death.
When I came to notice what happened to my family, i have to take
the Trunk Box in my late fathers security safe and fled out of Sudan. The
trunk Box contains US$2.5Million Cash.
I managed to arrive Nigeria from the Dafur Region using secret routes
to avoid detection by the wicked militants (the Jajaweed militants)
Right now; I am in my hotel room in Nigeria with the trunk box containing
the money. The key is also with me.
So I want you to also send me Ten (10) Names of people you can trust so
that I can move to the neighboring country Togo to send you $10,000 in
each names by Western Union.
I can be able to send you a total of $100,000 each day with the total
of ten different names.
It is easy and more convenient for me than shipping it! All i have to
do is to pay for the commissions for sending the Western Union. Already
the cash is in my possession!
After sending all the money via Western Union, you will make
arrangement for me to come over and meet with you to start a new life.
Waiting urgently for your response.
God bless,
William Abani.
