"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Dear friend,

How are you today, I hope all is well with you and your family.

I am contacting you because of an urgent business transaction that I want
to do with a trusted foreigner,I got your email information from one of my
good friends who works with Ghana's Chamber of Commerce and industry on foreign
business relations here in Accra-Ghana though I did not disclose the deal
to him. When he gave me your email address, I did not ask him his source because
I trust his judgement, having known him for a very long time.

My name is Mr. Edward B. Kwame, I currently work as a Senior Manager in the
Treasury Department of my bank(International Commercial Bank GH Ltd.), on
the 25th of November 2003, the sum of $25,500.000 was deposited with our
numbered fixed deposit account which is run directly by the Banking operations
Manager and I was the one occupying the seat as at then, I took exceptional
note of this deposit because it was large and as the man at the helm of affairs
then, I got to know the man behind the deposit, Late President Gnassingbe
Eyadema who died on February 2005.

The reason for my contacting you is that I checked and found out that the
account is still intact and the money has not been touched,I am the only
living soul who knows the true identity of the depositor, no other person
can withdraw the money or operate the account except the person can produce
the codes combination which was given to the depositor, the way the account
operates is that if the depositor wants to withdraw or transfer from the
account, he will instruct the bank in writting and give his codes and if
the manager confirms the code, the transfer will be effected at once,no name
or identification is needed. If you accept to work with me,I will give you
the instruction letter to send to the bank and also when the bank asks for
the codes, I will give them to you. If you want to know about me, I suggest
that you make a discreet inquiry to my bank about me, inquire through +233
21 409790 please for us to be on the safe side, just ask whether I work in
the bank and on what capacity. If you so desire,

I can give you a copy of my international passport or my bank identity card. Please
call me after reading this mail so that I may clarify you in any area you
do not fully understand, I want you to know that if we are going to do this,
we must move very fast, we can test run the whole operation by transferring
between $5-7 Million to your account, thereafter we can transfer the rest
by following the same way. Please if you are not interested in this bussiness
let me know so that i can contact someone else.

My best regards.

Mr. Edward B. Kwame
