"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear one,

I sincerely seek your assistance.

My name is John Mathins.I am the Son of late Mr Julius Mathins and Iam an
indigenes of Liberia but based in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. Until his death,
my father was a very successful businessman,he deals on international importation.
He died of a heart failure in November 2003. My problem now is that, my
late father had some money ($10.5m) which he put in a box and lodged in
a security company in Asia, his intension was to use this money for an oversea
investment.

I want you to help me by claiming this box contaning the money from the
security company and move it to your country as my late father's foreign
pertner. I will then come over to your country for my schooling and investment.
I am willing to offer you 15% of the money for your help. Please, i will
be very greatfull if you are willing to help me claim the consignment .

I will like you to do every thing possible to help me , because after the
death of my father i have no other place to stay ,so i went to the refugees
camp here in abidjan there i am staying for now, i will like you to help
me out of my present condition which am not used to .
