"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: contact my son.

"KEEP THIS LETTER CONFIDENTIAL".

My dear friend,

My name is Mrs.Nadia Kumba. I am 53years old and a widow from Zimmabwe. My
husband was killed due to the farm crisis in Zimbabwe.

The reason for contacting you is for you to meet my son who is seeking
asylum in South Africa at the moment. His late father deposited a treasure
box containing huge amount of cash money for him in a certain security
company in Johannesburg, South Africa. The law of South Africa does not
permit an asylum seeker to study, work, operate a bank account or establish a
business venture. Therefore, he need somebody to come to his rescue.

He has instructed me to get a God fearing and trusted foreign investor who
will come forward as the beneficiary of the deposited treasure and open a
non resident dollar account to be used for the transfer of the fund out of
South Africa to a nomianted bank account(s) overseas.

Please contact my son Frank in South Africa on telephone number + 27 83
7222244 or email address frankkumba@kayafmmail.co.za for more details. Note
that part of the money would be given to you for your humble assistance.

Keep this letter confidential as my son and I awaits your timely response.

Greetings from Zimbabwe.

Your Faithfully,

Mrs. Nadia Kumba.
