"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: FROM JOHN SEKIBO

FROM JOHN SEKIBO

You may be surprised to receive this letter from me since you do not
know me personally, I am barrister John Sekibo personal lawyer to Mr.
William Bradford a farmer in Zimbabwe who was recently murdered in the
land dispute in my country. See this website:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/1210883.stm

I got your contact through network online hence decided to write you.
Before his death , he had taken me to Johannesburg South Africa to
deposit the sum of US8.5 million (Eight million, Five Hundred thousand
United States dollars), in one of the private security company, as he
foresaw the looming danger in Zimbabwe this money was deposited to
avoid much demurrage from security company. This amount was meant for
the purchase of new machines and chemicals for the Farms and establishment
of new farms in Swaziland.

This land problem came when Zimbabwean President Mr.Robert Mugabe
introduced a new Land Act Reform wholly affecting the rich white
farmers and some few black farmers, and this resulted to the killing
and mob action by Zimbabwean war veterans and some lunatics in the society.
In fact a lot of people were killed because of this Land reform Act for which Mr.
William Bradford and his family was one of the victims.

It is against this background that, I and my family fled Zimbabwe for
fear of our lives and are currently staying in London where we are
seeking political asylum. Sicne then, no one has come to claim the
money and me, on my part, I am 100% sure that his entire family died in
the incident and only a US citizen can stand as his next of kin since he
was an American.

Now, I want us to work together and claim the fund from the security
company and move it to the United States, donate 20% for charity and
use the remaining for investments in the US because my client had
wanted his wealth repatriated back to the US.

The security company is ready to pay the fund to the next of kin, with
a proper evidence. On my own part, I will be a bridge sort of, so that
the necessary documents that will back up this claim will see the light
of the day.

This transaction is 100% risk free and as good as completed if we can
work together to actualize it to our mutual benefits.

What I need from you is to use your name as the next of kin, get the
documentation and change the beneficiary to your name since you are an
American citizen.

Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by email the text of the
application. I will not fail to bring to your notice once again that
this transaction is hitch free and that you should not entertain any
atom of fear as all required arrangements have been made. You should
contact me immediately as soon as you receive this letter.

Anticipating hearing from you immediately. Thanks and God bless you.

John Sekibo
