"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: I NEED YOUR HELP....

From: Dr. (Mrs) Mariam Abacha
Dear sir,
I am Dr. Mrs Mariam Abacha, the wife of the Nigerian late head of state,General
Sanni Abacha who died on the 8th day of June 1998 while still on active
duty.
I am writing to you in view of the fact that we would be of great assistance
to each other like developing acordial relationship. I got your contact
through Internet. I am currently having within my reach the sum of twenty-Five
Million United State Dollars,(25,000,000,00) only cash, which I intend to
use for investment like real Estate development specifically in your country.
This money came as a pay back contract deal between my late husband and
a Russian firm on our countrys multi-billion dollars Ajaokuta steel plant.

The Russian partners returned my husbands share of US$ 25m, after the death
of my husband and lodged it in my husbands security company of which I am
the director right now, but the new civilian Government of President Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo has intensified their probe on my late husbands financial
and oil company. In view of this, I acted fast in withdrawing the money
and deposited it in a security company in a near by country for safe custody,
and I have since declared the security company bankrupt, no record ever
exists concerning the money traceable by the Government because there is
no documentation showing that we received the money from the Russian firm.
Due to the current situation in the country concerning the Governments attitude
towards my family, it has become quite impossible for me to make use of
this money within, for, I seek for your wholesome assistance. I expect you
to contact me immediately to enable us discuss in details about this.

Bear it in mind that your assistance is highly needed to transfer this
money, I proposed a percentage of 25% of the total sum to you for the expected
service and assistance, then 10% for the off setting minor expenses incurred
in the cause of this transaction, your urgent response is highly needed.
As soon as I hear from you I shall be oblige to detail you additional information
on how we should go on this matter.
Thank you as I expect your quick respoinse.
Contact me thrught my private E-mail box abafamily_2002@yahoo.com

Regards
Dr, Mrs Mariam Abacha
