"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Can you handle this contract?

Dearest,

I am Monalisa Wahgan, secretary to the formal president of Burkina faso BLAISE COMPAORE who was overthroned last week friday by the military.

Before the event I was on an errand for the president to meet with some Foreign Investors in oversea to sign an investment contract worth millions of dollars which I travelled out of the country when the overthroned took place, and I have been informed not to return to the country else I will be apprehended by the transition government in order to recover the contract.

Part of the contract fee worth the sum of US$15 million dollars is with a bank in Ivory coast in west africa, it was stated that the money will be transferred to any of the investor whom I concluded the contract signing with in order to commence the project.

Therefore, since we have been relief off our duty post I want you to stand as one of the Foreign investors whom I have completed the contract process with and request the bank to transfer the money into your account to enable you commence the project.

As soon as the transfer is done I am going to come over to your country and you are going to have 15% of the total sum for helping me out, so please if you are willing to help me let me know so that I will advice you on a way forward, and please don't mention this to anybody remember that we have just lost the power and the transition government is look for us by all means including media so I want this issue to remain between you and I.

Thanks and remain bless.
I expect your immediate response.
Monalisa Wahgan
