"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Our attention was drawn to a very serious matter of urgent attention and concern by the honourable Minister of Finance DR. OLUSEGUN OLUWATOYIN AGANGA via a memo dated 13th September, 2010 referenced FGN/FMF/GHS/09/10; regarding the unfavourable reports by the International Community, the International Monetary Fund on the activities of some Nigerians in collaboration with some Government Officials as well as foreigners who connive to rip their Nationals purporting to assist them with their contract or inheritance payments.



It is in the light of the above complaints that this office is issuing out this circular and notice to advise and direct all bonafide Contractors and inheritance claimant of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, whom to talk to, where and how to go about their contract payments.



Therefore, having been enlisted on our records as one of the Federal Government of Nigeria accredited creditors which this letter confirms; you are further required to re-affirm the position of your outstanding payment with our Foreign Debt Reconciliation office in Pretoria South Africa , the authorized office for this exercise. This office is the only authorized one by the Presidency to manage and determine the total indebtedness to both local and foreign creditors by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
